First of all, I’m anticipating some beautiful book jackets this year. That’s not the reason I selected these 5 sequels that I’m really looking forward to, it just happens to be a common factor amongst them. These are my 5 most anticipated sequels of 2016!
Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard (Red Queen book 2)
This book picks up with Mare on the run and all of us feeling a sense of betrayal. I know Red Queen got a lot of flack because some people felt like it just picked and chose the best of multiple book series and morphed it into one story, but I didn’t feel that way. It was somewhat predictable, but still kept me interested. The world building could use some work, so that’s what I’m hoping to see in this second book from Victoria Aveyard. [Release date: February 9]
The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski (The Winner’s Trilogy book 3)
This book will kick off with a war and Kestrel as a prisoner. Kestrel + Arin = 5ever. I may re-read the first two books in this trilogy before I pick this one up. I seriously devoured those novels. They are action packed and really intriguing. I’m looking forward to some more character development and some plot holes to be filled in. [Release date: March 1]
The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh (The Wrath and the Dawn book 2)
Shahrzad is going to have to make some serious love-decisions. I really enjoyed the first book in this series and wrote all about it here. Even with all the love I have for this story, I still had quite a few unanswered questions. I’m really hoping that this book is everything I need it to be, otherwise this series will lose me. Yes, I understand how much pressure I put on this to fulfill my hopes and dreams. [Release date: May 3]
A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir (An Ember in the Ashes book 2)
I went freaking crazy over An Ember in the Ashes. It had so many twists and turns, I was hooked! I have a lot of high hopes for this sequel, but I’m nervous about the direction it’s going! I’m also slightly terrified of some of these characters. The Commandant? AH! Please be good. Please be good. Please be good. [August 2016]
Untitled by Sarah J. Maas (Throne of Glass book 5)
I almost didn’t include this book because it has no title and no cover art. But, PEOPLE IT IS COMING. I believe there will be 6 books in this series plus the novella bind-up. So basically there are 7 because the novellas are a must-read. I talk about this series all the time, so you know that I love it. If you’re new here at Rhodes of Reading, first of all – welcome! Secondly, you should be made aware that I love the Throne of Glass series. This series is better than all things. [Release date: September 2016]
