5 Great Book Covers

I’ll be straight with you…I totally judge books by their covers. If the design on the dust jacket draws me in, I’m there. I’m in. They’ve got me. Marketing is no joke, friends. They choose those covers for a reason!

These are 5 books that I read because of the covers. I may have read the inside flap or the back of it, too, but all I remember is seeing the cover and wanting to buy it/check it out.

heir

The Heir by Kiera Cass (also all of the books inΒ The Selection series)

Can I just sit here and make googly eyes at this cover? And it’s 10x more beautiful in person. I wasn’t sure I wanted to keep reading these books, but those covers! *le sigh*

winners curse

The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

Okay, I’m noticing that I have a thing for book covers of girls in pretty dresses. But this one had a sword! Pretty dresses and battles? That’s my middle name. Although, there really weren’t that many pretty dresses in this series…lots of swords, not so much on the pretty stuff.

nimona

Nimona by Noelle Stevenson

I saw this on the library shelves and went YEP. I loved the art style as soon as I saw the cover of this graphic novel. The storyline was great, a little slow at times, but the art was so fantastic.

jackaby

Jackaby by William Ritter

When I checked this book out of the library, I literally had no idea what this book was about and did not care at all. I loved the silhouette and the running and the lettering and the color…visually an A+. The book’s content was more like a B-, unfortunately.

landline

Landline by Rainbow Rowell

Last but not least, of what is honestly a very long list, we have this Rainbow Rowell treasure. The front of it is pretty minimalistic, which works for me sometimes, but the SPINE IS BEAUTIFUL. You’ll just have to check it out for yourself. I freaking loved this book, inside and out.

What are some books you read or picked up simply because of the cover? Let me know in the comments!

Happy reading! – Caitlyn

  1. I just bought A Winner’s Curse, and I was so disappointed that my book has a different cover! I was hoping for the cover you have pictured here, but my cover has a girl holding daggers and it looks like she’s trying to be Celaena from Throne of Glass …

      1. Yeah, the dress doesn’t really make sense in the first cover, but the second cover makes it all about the blades, and makes Kestrel look more like a warrior/fighter, which she is not. I think there needs to be a balance between the two covers somehow. I feel like they should’ve had Kestrel in her outfit from the second cover standing with a piano in the background, maybe with daggers in hand, to indicate someone who does fight, but perhaps that is not all she cares about. I dunno. I haven’t gotten to book two yet!
