Top 5 Fall TV Premieres

I love a good book. I love reading. I really do. I ALSO love watching TV shows. There’s something about that anticipation from week to week, endless cliffhangers, and scheduled weekly entertainment that thrills me. Now…don’t judge me, but I watch a lot of shows. Sometimes, I’ll go a few weeks without watching one particular show, then binge watch in order to get caught up. Others, though, I have to be sitting in front of the TV, suffering through each and every commercial break. These are 5 shows I can’t WAIT to start watching again this fall.

Last Man Standing

I recently binge watched all of the available seasons of this show on Netflix and you guys…it’s hilarious. I laughed out loud during every episode. It’s Tim Allen, you guys. It’s GOT to be funny. What I wasn’t expecting was all the emotions! So many feels! Another thing I love about this show is that it’s really current. There’s a lot of political commentary and humor, but we see a few different perspectives, which is very America of the show writers. If you loved watching Home Improvement during the 90’s, you’ll love this show. Some of our old Home Improvement friends even make cameos from time to time. This show comes back to us on Friday, September 23.

Law and Order: SVU

Taking a nose dive from the funny sitcoms, we reach SVU. *ching ching* This is one of my all-time favorite shows. The cast is so great and it’s been on for a thousand years, so their storylines just keep building and building. Granted, any time I’m binge-watching old seasons, I have to quit after like 5 episodes in a row in order to sleep. Ha! This show also stays current, tackling current issues and well televised crimes. SVU returns on Wednesday, September 21.

Grey’s Anatomy

I don’t think I could quit this show even if I wanted to. I’ve been watching it for so many years at this point, I’m just too invested to stop now. I know each of the characters, how long they’ve been at Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital, who they’ve dated (or been married to), even their biggest surgeries. I’m all in. Last season was a little touch-and-go at first, as we all mourned the loss of McDreamy, but I think they eventually found their stride and I’m anxious to see where the storyline goes next. Grey’s comes back to us on Thursday, September 22.

Jane the Virgin

I love this show. I’ve watched it from the beginning – from pregnancy and broken hearts to where we are now. For a while, I was conflicted about whether I was on team Rafael or team Michael! I think I tend to learn towards Michael, though. I love this whole cast and the format of the show is really unique. It follows along the typical telenovela format sometimes, mimicking this popular TV genre. It’s dramatic, fun, and always entertaining. Jane returns on Monday, October 17.

DC Universe Shows on The CW

Last but CERTAINLY not least, I have all the DC shows that air on The CW: The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and now Supergirl! I started with Arrow, keeping up with it as it aired on TV. Then The Flash started and I find myself preferring it over Arrow. It’s a bit lighter; Arrow is such an intense, dark show. The last year, Legends of Tomorrow joined the fold. It was kind of hard for me to get into this one at first, but then I binge watched it all and I ultimately enjoyed it! Supergirl is a great show, too, and it used to air on CBS. I’ve read that there will be a huge crossover coming between all 4 of these shows, as well as musical episodes for The Flash and Supergirl (both of which have cast members that are known for their vocal talents.) That should be interesting. (Remember that musical episode of Grey’s? Weird.) October 4, The Flash kicks off this group of premieres.

Happy watching! – Caitlyn
